Anti-piracy program

Since 2019, OSEL has been systematically looking into the illegal online distribution of copyright-protected literary works using an innovative anti‑piracy programme. With the implementation of this programme, the Organisation identifies and subsequently has illegally uploaded book files or excerpts taken down.

The uploading of files containing scanned books, lengthy excerpts from copyright-protected literary works or visual artworks without the authorisation of rightholders, writers, illustrators, comic book creators, publishers, etc. directly results in depriving them of their fair compensation, which, for writers, illustrators, etc., is their livelihood, sometimes the only one, and for publishers, the sole way to recover their investments.

The love of books involves the respect for the rights of authors, so that they can continue to produce their works. Today more than ever, if we wish to continue enjoying the pleasures of reading, we must respect authors and publishers and defend their rights, each from their own position.
