

The mission of the Hellenic Open University (HOU) is to provide undergraduate and postgraduate distance-learning education and training via the development and use of appropriate educational materials and teaching methods. Among the objectives of the Hellenic Open University (HOU) is the advancement of scientific research and the development of technology and methodological approaches in the field of distance learning.
The Hellenic Open University is the 19th Greek university. Like other universities, it is a legal entity under public law, autonomous and self-governing. Its operation is determined by Law 2552/97 [as amended by Article 14 of Law 2817/2000, Article 3 of Law 3027/2002, Article 13 of Law 3260/2004, Article 19 of Law 3577/2007, Article 6 of Law 4366/2016, Article 28 of Law 4368/2016, Article 61 of Law 4386/2016, Article 7 of Law 4405/2016, and Article 23(1),(5) and (6) of Law 4452/2017]
The Open University of Cyprus is a modern pioneering public university, established in Nicosia. Through the adoption and application of the flexible methodology of open and distance learning, it has succeeded in opening up new horizons in university education and lifelong learning.
Since its establishment, the Open University of Cyprus has been growing dynamically, offering accredited university studies at undergraduate and postgraduate level (master’s degrees and PhDs) in the modern scientific fields of its three faculties:
Humanities & Social Sciences, Natural & Applied Sciences, and Economics & Business Administration.
In addition to the purely academic studies that it provides, the Open University of Cyprus also offers targeted and specialised short‑term distance-learning programmes on current topics.
The Cyprus University of Technology (CUT) is the newest public university in Cyprus. Although it has been in operation for only 12 years, it has come to play a leading role in the academic life of Cyprus and in international fora, and its strong performance has lead to notable success. In recent Times Higher Education World Rankings 2018-9, the University of Cyprus was ranked first in Cyprus and Greece, and it is the only Greek-speaking university in the 301-350 range among the top 1,258 universities worldwide. Aiming for excellence in research, the Cyprus University of Technology has achieved the highest success rate for research proposals from Cyprus in the EU Horizon 2020 Programme.

The primary goal of the Cyprus University of Technology is to provide society not only with qualified, well-trained scientists, but also responsible and active citizens with critical thinking skills. At the same time, as a higher‑education institution and an agent for change and improvement within society, it has become a forum for constructive dialogue and the development of well‑founded proposals on environmental, economic, scientific, cultural and social issues, embracing a clear framework of corporate social responsibility and service.
Within a few years of its establishment in 1989, the University of Cyprus has established its reputation within society and the international scientific community as a higher-education institution known for offering high-quality study programmes, producing research work to an extremely high standard, and making substantial contributions to the improvement of society.
Today, 8 faculties with 22 departments operate within the university, offering a wide range of undergraduate, postgraduate and research programmes to 7,000 students. In addition to these faculties and departments, research units and centres focusing on critical and important areas of research activity are in active operation at the University of Cyprus.

The Neapolis University Pafos is one of the best private universities in Cyprus. Frederick University is a prominent private university operating in Cyprus. It was established in September 2007, following a decision by the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Cyprus, after the successful and long‑established record of Frederick Institute of Technology in education and research. In January 2012, the University was finally granted its permanent operating licence.
